Abstract

The story of Yakov Chernozubov is based on primary sources, chiefly almost a hundred family letters; such secondary sources as are available have also been used. Covering 1900-43, it is set against the background of political, economic and legal turmoil, including the October Revolution and ensuing purges of sectarian believers, in which Yakov also perished. The study offers another perspective on a crucial period of Russian Baptist life through the lens of one protagonist’s life.
