Abstract

The revelation of God's message through words, works and through Christ himself, is carried out progressively and contains a series of very diverse aspects: all people are called to salvation, every human person experiences freedom from sins and grace, because in Christ the kingdom of God has descended among people and all relationships between people are transformed by the power of a new relationship with Him. The Church, "the building of God" (1 Cor. 3, 9) is the house to which all the peoples of the earth are called, and no one should feel alien in this "tent of God with men" (Rev. 21, 3). Not as simple individuals, but more, as a people with their own culture, people are united in building the same Church, of which Christ is the "cornerstone" (cf. 1 Pt. 2, 5-7). In this perspective, the encyclical Redemporis Missio appears to us not only as a simple presentation of the missionary reality of the Church, but more than that, it outlines the requirements of a practical activity that will bear fruit. The Church received from the Savior a universal mission: that of going to all the world, to all the peoples of the earth. And the purpose of the mission is to show God to people, preaching the gospel so that they may have life. and have plenty" (cf. Io. 10, 10). The mission is unique in its purpose and in its origin; however, the ways of putting it into practice are different, because the histories of peoples, their cultures and the ways in which salvation is presented and understood are different. This article wants to highlight only some aspects of the rich content that the mission itself represents. After a brief presentation of the term missio, it continues with the exposition of the importance and methods of mission, with some considerations on the interreligious dialogue, and finally with a succinct exposition of the canonical norms regarding missionary activity in the CCEO.
