David Bosch's Transforming Mission suggests thirteen elements in an emerging ecumenical missionary paradigm. With due respect to this monumental work, the lack of a mention of the contribution of Pentecostalism to the worldwide missionary movement since the beginning of the 20th century is a curious omission. This essay attempts to formulate a Pentecostal theology of mission with reference to Bosch's missiology in the context of postmodernism. Distinctive features of a Pentecostal mission theology are discussed, followed by an illustration of how Petecostalism has contributed to larger missiological issues such as the relationship between evangelism and social concern.
