This article briefly discusses the role of Trans World Radio, a missionary radio organization in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), from 1954-1989, in the days when most governments in the region had instigated showdowns with religious communities. With difficult travel arrangements to CEE during the Iron Curtain days (except Yugoslavia), radio broadcasts proved to be efficient in reaching the audiences and providing Christian teaching and messages to a huge number of listeners. To achieve that, Trans World Radio (TWR) worked with many mission organizations and with dedicated nationals who prepared and recorded radio messages and music which were needed for broadcasts.
