Bruvers, Olafs (1992) The revival in Latvia during the 1920s and subsequent Baptist immigration to Brazil. Doctoral thesis, Fuller Theological Seminary.

The thesis presents a spiritual awakening and revival in Latvia in the 1920s. This research is based primarily on eyewitness accounts and other original source materials which were still accessible. The positive contributions as well as the negative aspects, such as emphasis upon the immediate second coming of Christ, are explored. This emphasis together with certain "prophecies" current at that time regarding the isolation of the "chosen ones" in preparation for ascension with Christ resulted in emigration to Brazil of a significant number of Latvian Baptist revivalists. When it became evident that the prophecies of Christ's imminent return were erroneous, the revivalist community in Brazil initiated an evangelization effort which developed into a mission program of significant breadth and scope.
