Abstract

In the second half of the 20th century and in the Catholic Church in Croatia, there is a record of newly emerging lay ecclesiastical movements that are still functioning today. The reasons why those movement began are manifold but the most important one is the Council's opening of the Church for the lay people. In this work, we worked on the representative sample of lay persons who belong to lay church movements. We researched their opinion on the Church's response to many current questions. We were interested to know whether and to what extent are the Council's thoughts alive in the Catholic Church in Croatia today. The questions were related to the adequacy of the Church's response to moral and spiritual needs of today's man, as well as to familial and social problems, and the last question asked how much the Church actually did in order to apply the Council's thoughts.
