Abstract
The mission mandate of our Lord Jesus Christ has not lost anything of its actuality up to the present time. Every generation of Christians is called to fulfil this mandate, according to its own socio-cultural context. The aim of this article is to present the development of the main concepts of mission theology during and after the Second Vatican Council. After outlining the major achievements of the conciliar decree on missions Ad gentes, the author strives to describe the main directions of post-conciliar developments in this field. In presenting these developments official documents of the Church are analysed as well: Evangelium nuntiandi by Paul VI, Redemptoris missio by John Paul II and Dialogo e Annuncio by the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples and Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue.
