Abstract

The year 2010 has been declared to be the Year of Christian Culture in Slovakia by both Roman Catholic Church and the Ecumenical Council of Churches. Smaller Slovak protestant communities have traditionally had ambiguous attitudes to everyday culture when considering its possible positive role in discipleship. This might motivate Slovak Methodists to internally introduce a Year of Prayer for 2010. The article’s author has attempted to reflect the matters of culture and discipleship through a glimpse to the problem of salvation in the Letter of Jude that embraces future consolation and everyday experience of the believer. Experiencing everyday culture as an inevitable phenomenon encounters all Christ’s disciples and motivates them to select the characters of authentic Christianity today.
