The missions as we have known them until very recently and which still live in our consciousness began with colonization and also ended with the end of colonies. From the very beginning of the missionary model of evangelization, the subjugation of faith to European way of thought and structures was not approved by everybody (e. g. Matteo Ricci, Bartholome de Las Casas etc.), yet their endeavours only bear fruit today when Jesus' mission is understood and carried out within the belief in the Holy Trinity. From this perspective it is easier to face the challenges of our times. Every local church as well as all its members, lay people, members of religious orders and clerics are invited to live their faith in a "missionary" or giving manner. If a calling is understood and lived in such a way, it becomes prophetic because it discovers the roots of sin and tries to remove them.
