Evangelization represents a major challenge to a catechist. Catechizing in these days must be adapted with customized methodology to the cultural, intellectual place and to the age of the catechists. Furthermore, a catechetical training is mandatory for all catechists, regardless of their life status. However, the training is not the only criterion for achieving the goals of catechist, his creativity and qualities. The author highlights the catechetical training of the clergy, which was later responsible for the organization of parish catechesis. We must not forget that a catechist has two equally important roles which are a pedagogical role and the role of being a religious teacher. In order to illustrate the work of a catechist (not only from theoretical point of view), the author included interviews with three different catechists. Their answers helped in analysing the actual relationship between theory and practice.
