Abstract

This paper discusses St. Paul’s theology from the viewpoint of his missionary activity. It could be argued that every central concept of Paul’s theology (faith, justification, redemption, gospel, etc) has been developed in the context of practical missionary situations. This is confirmed by the fact that the content of his sermons is slightly different for each new audience depending on whether it has Jewish or Greek background. In sum, it seems to be impossible to separate Paul’s teaching from his missionary work and this calls for a more interdisciplinary approach in the current biblical scholarship.
