The subject of the functioning of the Church in the East continues to arouse great interest and certain emotions and is not simple for many reasons. First, there are the complex historical reasons. Then, there is the complicated ecumenical atmosphere. Finally, there is the delicate pastoral and evangelization matter. The term "re-evangelization" used in the subject indicates its understanding in the light of John Paul II's encyclical Redemptoris missio. It assumes the existence of Christianity and the end of the first evangelization, although professing the faith was difficult, if not impossible. Therefore, there is a need for a renewal of the Christian faith, often using missionary methods, but remembering the first evangelization that has already taken place.
