In the midst of the civil war in Russia that followed the revolution of 1917, the red terror that led to the Stalinist regime, and the waves of persecution of all independent thinkers after World War II, Pentecostalism was struggling for survival as were all the other Christian traditions. When the long 70-year period of state atheism was over and the ‘red stronghold’ collapsed, God’s promises of freedom for the gospel came true.
