This article presents a missionary perspective and the importance of analyzing the identity-forming role of the gospel. The research was carried out using the methodology proposed by Hans Urs von Balthasar, the author of a new post-metaphysical approach to theology (based on the use of transcendentals) that challenges modern society and stimulates the comprehension of Christian experience in the 21st century. The article talks about the problem of human self-identification in the perspective of the modern theory of communication, and it is proposed to make this definition through aesthetic-dramatic theology. Then the proposed approach is applied to the example of society, the Church and the individual Christian. The article calls for an emphasis on the formative and transformative facets of the Church's mission in modern society.
