Abstract
One of the lessons that present missiology could learn from the history of the Orthodox Church is the value of the eucharistic assembly as venue for the proclamation of the Gospel, the sharing of the "Bread of Life" with others, and the visible communion of the people. The preoccupation of the Protestants with the words of the Bible and with the sermons, and that of the Roman Catholics with the ecclesiastical institutions and sacraments, tells clearly how different the missionary insights and methods have become since the sixteenth century.
