One of the modern day phenomena is the presence of nationalist influences and ideas in Church thought. In this article we would like to expound that nationalism is not something originally inherent to the Christian point of view, i. e. to show that nationalism in Church found its stronghold due to secularization of Church. We will also briefly consider the historical circumstances that lead to the influence of nationalism in Christian and especially Orthodox thought. Finally, we will point to restoration of Christian eschatological orientation as a possible solution for the contemporary crisis caused by nationalism.
