Abstract
The present paper describes the challenges posed by the safeguarding of Christian faith under the atheist dictatorship in Romania. This entailed an official ecclesial activity as a highly difficult strategy of interaction with the oppressive regime; on the other hand, there was an individual, covert experiencing of ecclesial ideals, which led to courageous acts of faith confession and even martyrdom.
