The Orthodox Church of Finland is a relatively young church but with a rich and complicated history. Because of the protestant environment in which it exists, it developed certain particular traits which can be found also in its mission work. This relatively small community does a rich both inner and foreign mission, through a variety of means. At home it works through brotherhoods, youth camps, lay academies, etc and abroad in countries in Eastern Europe and Africa doing both catechising and humanitarian work.
