Abstract
Guided by the basic ideas of respect for the human being, person and its dignity, as well as the idea of equality of all people and brotherhood in Christ, Christianity has always been a developing motor and yeast in every culture and society, especially in the Western world. With the development of industry and modern sciences, the Western society fell into crisis which can be felt in many areas. Today's society is developing only in the interests of selfishness, which is best witnessed in the democratic style society influenced by USA. Christianity as well as the Church is feeling fatigue of this kind of life and is trying to find responses to this new society. In this light, the historical effect of Christianity, with all its restraints and flaws, was a big dam to egoism, and that is still what it aims to be today. It is understandable that Christianity is primarily realized in the ethical-religious plan, but it has to be realized in the social, even political plan, if it truly wants to impact people and surpass inequality and egoism. That shift from ethical-religious plan to social-political one, is not easy and painless but that is the ideal of Christianity, integral component of Christ's teaching and the Church should not deny it. The Church is therefore constantly calling the faithful and all people of good will to achieve it because that is how it can achieve justice and peace for all creation.
