EKD's "Adult Belief Initiative" seeks to make faith courses a hallmark of the Protestant church and a standard offering in the church parishes. In addition to the organization of courses, this also includes the view of the respective community and its environment. Based on data from the empirical study 'Churches on Course' on courses on faith and their significance for community development, the experiences and effects of working with courses is described, especially for the community culture. On the one hand, decisions and priorities are necessary and helpful for the permanent implementation of courses on faith. On the other hand, courses on faith in change processes in communities can be an important stimulus.
